Grantsburg will hold a celebration to thank area residents and businesses for helping find Keith Kennedy.
Cindi Throngard, community education director for Grantsburg Schools and a member of the Grantsburg Chamber of Commerce announced Thursday the date of the event will be Saturday, August 2 at Crex Convention Center.
She said the owners of the Crex Convention Center have donated the use of the space.
Further details will be announced later.
“This is a celebration for the local people because so many helped during the search for Keith,” said Throngard.
Keith Kennedy, an autistic man from the Twin Cities was a camper at Trade Lake Camp when he walked away from the camp.
The searched lasted for one week and Kennedy was finally found.
He was hospitalized and recently released.
“The Kennedy family will be here to thank everyone,” said Throngard.
The Grantsburg Chamber of Commerce agreed to donate $100 to help pay expenses of the celebration.
The Kennedy family is holding their own celebration from 3-11 p.m., Saturday, July 19 at the Minneapolis Theatre Garage at 711 W. Franklin Avenue
