Plovdig, Bulgaria
Plovdiv, Bulgaria`s second largest city.
It is one of the oldest still living European cities – contemporary to Troy (Turkey), older than Rome (Italy) and Athens (Greece). It keeps thousands of monuments from prehistoric times – 8 000 years ago, from the time when Alexander the Great called it Philipopolis – in memory of his father Philip – 4 c.B.C., from the days it was capital of the Thracian Kingdom – till 45 A.D.
Roman theatre, stadium, odeon, mosaics, Renaissance houses and islamic, orthodox, catholic and Jewish temples adorn the city, which is geological, botanical, archaeological, historical and architectural reserve. Many travellers, for example Evliya Cheleby from the 17 c. call it the most beautiful of all Balkan cities…

Rila Mountain
Beautiful Rila Mountain
Rila is a mountain range in southwestern Bulgaria and the highest mountain range of Bulgaria and the Balkans, with its highest peak being Musala at 2,925 m. The name Rila is allegedly of Thracian origin and is thought to mean “well-watered mountain”, owing to Rila’s abundance of glacial lakes (about 200) and hot springs in fault areas at the base of the mountain. Some of the Balkans’ longest and deepest rivers originate from Rila, including the Maritsa, the Iskar and the Mesta. Culturally, Rila is famous for the Rila Monastery, Bulgaria’s largest and most important monastery founded in the 10th century by Saint John of Rila.

Rated 12A

Released 28.10.09

Synopsis: A new era in animated storytelling begins on 9.9.09. Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton (The Corpse Bride, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory) and Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Nightwatch) join forces to produce wunderkind director Shane Acker’s distinctively original and thrilling tale. 9 stars Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer and Crispin Glover and features the music of Danny Elfman. Read more …

Consensus: Although its story is perhaps too familiar and less complex than some might wish, 9 is visually spectacular, and director Shane Acker’s attention to detail succeeds in drawing viewers into the film’s universe.
